Pakistan is currently playing the 1st game of the two-match Test series against Australia at The Gabba in Brisbane. This is also the first match for the Men in Green in the ICC Test Championship. The visitors found it difficult to face the Aussie bowling line-up on Day 1. However, during the game, Tim Paine, the skipper of the hosts came up with a hilarious comment when Mohammed Rizwan came to bat.

On Day 1, the visitors got off with a good start as their openers gave an opening stand of 75 runs against Aussie pacers. But as soon as Shan Masood and Azhar Ali got dismissed, the middle order of Pakistan collapsed and they were left struggling at a score of five wickets at a meagre score of 94 runs. However, Asad Shafiq (76) stitched a partnership of 49 runs with Rizwan (37), followed by another 84-run stand with Yasir Shah (26) that helped the Pakistan team to post a respectable total.

Tim Paine chirps behind the stumps on Day 1

The hilarious incident happened when Rizwan came out to bat after Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon dismissed Iftikhar Ahmed. The right-handed batter played the second delivery of his innings towards the bowler and was preparing himself for the next ball. At that very moment, Tim Paine, who was standing behind the stumps started chirping and hilariously said that the new batter Rizwan’s scent smells very nice. However, his voice got recorded in the mic that was placed in the stumps.

It also revived the memory of his cheeky banter with the young Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant back in December last year when India was playing against Australia at the MCG. During that game, the Aussie skipper had referred the Indian gloveman as the baby sitter. However, later on, he got a cheeky reply from the young cricketer. Also, that game was won by the Virat Kohli and Co. by a margin of 137 runs.

Asad Shafiq played an important role in Pakistan‘s first innings as he turned out to be the only player to score a fifty. And, the whole team of the visitor’s got dismissed at a score of 240 runs on Day 1.
