The ongoing edition of the Big Bash League hasn’t started well for the Brisbane Heat. Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder defeated them by comprehensive margins. Placed at the bottom of the points table, Chris Lynn and Co would be looking to make amends in their third match against Adelaide Strikers on Wednesday, December 23 at their home ground- The Gabba in Brisbane.
At the very venue, the Heat have lost to the Strikers four out of five times with their only win coming in the previous season. The Strikers, on the other hand, are placed midway in the points table with one win from three games.
For the next game, they won’t be having the services of Alex Carey and Harry Conway due to border restrictions. In Carey’s place, speedster Peter Siddle will be the skipper.
Pitch and Conditions
The pitch at The Gabba has been a belter for batting over the years. The team batting first, on an average, scores over the 170-run mark in T20I cricket. Hence, batting first and putting runs on the board should be the way forward for the teams.
The temperature will be around the 26 degrees Celsius mark with the humidity around the mid-50s. The conditions will mostly be cloudy.
Average first-innings score

Probable Top Performers for HEA vs STR
Chris Lynn– Brisbane Heat
Chris Lynn is the all-time leading run-scorer in the history of the BBL. With 2,421 runs in the tournament, the right-hander has been a force to reckon with. And a strike-rate of almost 150 shows how dominant he has been over the years.
Also, he has smashed the most sixes- 152. In the first two matches, Lynn got scores of 20 and 69 and the Queenslander will be looking for another substantial knock.
Rashid Khan– Adelaide Strikers
Rashid Khan has been a revelation in the last four years or so. The leg-spinner from Afghanistan has shown his class in the BBL. The Adelaide Strikers have never lost faith in him. In the first three games, Rashid picked up one wicket each.
He will be keen to make more inroads going deep into the tournament. The youngster is no mug with the bat and he can score some useful runs lower down the order.
