West Indian innings was rocked by 3 wickets each by Roger Binny and Ravi Shashtri, but Andy Roberts and Joel Garner both made 37 each, adding 71 runs for the 10th wicket in a vain attempt to win the match for West Indies. But Shashtri removed Garner for 37 to win the match for India by 34 runs.

India met against Zimbabwe in an important match and were 17/5 batting first, when Kapil Dev who made 175* first added 60 runs with Roger Binny (22) and then added another 126* runs for the 9th wicket with Syed Kirmani who made 24*. India scored 266/9 in 60 overs and bowled Zimbabwe out for 235 runs winning the match by 31 runs.

8. 8th wkt Dave Houghton &amp; Iain Butchart – 117 Zimbabwe v New Zealand, Hyderabad (Deccan), 1987

Zimbabwe were impressive in the 1987 World Cup with their performances. They met New Zealand who were in red hot form in Hyderabad and were chasing 242 runs set by New Zealand. Zimbabwe collapsed for 104/7 when all-rounder Iain Butchart joined him for an almost match winning 8th wicket partnership. Both of them added 117 runs with Butchart making 54 runs and Dave Houghton made a brilliant 142 runs, but Zimbabwe fell short by 3 runs after Houghton was caught brilliantly by Martin Crowe.

World Cup reentrants UAE impressed every one with their fighting spirit. Shaiman Anwar who scored 106 added 107 runs for the 7th wicket with Amjad Javed who scored 42 runs against Ireland in Bribane. UAE scored 278 runs in 50 overs and gave Ireland a run for their money, who won by just 2 wickets with Gary Wilson making 80 runs.

7th wkt Amjad Javed &amp; Nasir Aziz – 107 U.A.E. v West Indies, Napier, 2015 In another group match, UAE scored 175 runs against West Indies. Their main heroes were Amjad Javed (56) and Nasir Aziz (60), both of them who added 107 runs for the 7th wicket to get UAE to 175 runs. West Indies chased the total with comparative ease loosing just 4 wickets and Johnston Charles making 55 and Jonathan Carter making 50*.

Ireland collapsed to 111/5 when Kevin O’Brien walked in to join Alex Cusack, both of them added 162 runs for 6th wicket. O’Brien made 113 from 63 balls which was the fastest century in 50 balls and Cusack made 47 runs. Ireland finally won the match by 3 wickets in what is one of the most exciting match.

Zimbabwe made South Africa sweat in their group  match, reducing them to 83/4. But David Miller (138*) and JP Duminy (115*) added a record 256* runs for the 5th wicket. They took South Africa to 339 runs in 50 overs. Zimbabwe scored 277 runs with Hamilton Masakadza making 80 runs, but lost the match by 62 runs.

India batted first against Kenya, who reduced India to 92/2. Then Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, who was coming back from his father’s funeral, added 237* runs for the 3rd wicket. Dravid scored 104* and Tendulkar destroyed Kenyan bowling making 140* in 101 balls. India made 329/2 in 50 overs.

Kenya could make 235/7 in 50 overs with Steve Tikolo making 58 and Debashish Mohanty taking 4/56. India won by 94 runs.

Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels added a World and World Cup record of 372 runs for the 2nd wicket against Zimbabwe. West Indies batted first and made 372 runs in 50 overs after losing Dwayne Smith on the 2nd ball of the innings. Chris Gayle scored the first double hundred 215 and Samuels scored his career best 133* in 49.4 overs. This is the highest runs for any partnership in ODI history breaking Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid’s rcord of 331* runs, made against New Zealand in 1999-2000.

Zimbabwe replied with 289 runs with Sean Williams making 89 runs, but lost the match  by 73 runs using D/L method.

The record for the highest 1st wicket partnership in World Cups is held by Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga against Zimbabwe, they made 282 runs out of a team score of 327 runs. Dilshan made 144 and Tharanga made 133 runs.

Zimbabwe could only make 188 runs with Brendan Taylor making 80 runs and Dilshan taking 4/4. Zimbabwe lost the match by 139 runs.

India met against Zimbabwe in an important match and were 17/5 batting first, when Kapil Dev who made 175* first added 60 runs with Roger Binny (22) and then added another 126* runs for the 9th wicket with Syed Kirmani who made 24*. India scored 266/9 in 60 overs and bowled Zimbabwe out for 235 runs winning the match by 31 runs. 

8. 8th wkt Dave Houghton &amp; Iain Butchart – 117 
 Zimbabwe v New Zealand, Hyderabad (Deccan), 1987
Zimbabwe were impressive in the 1987 World Cup with their performances. They met New Zealand who were in red hot form in Hyderabad and were chasing 242 runs set by New Zealand. Zimbabwe collapsed for 104/7 when all-rounder Iain Butchart joined him for an almost match winning 8th wicket partnership. Both of them added 117 runs with Butchart making 54 runs and Dave Houghton made a brilliant 142 runs, but Zimbabwe fell short by 3 runs after Houghton was caught brilliantly by Martin Crowe.

World Cup reentrants UAE impressed every one with their fighting spirit. Shaiman Anwar who scored 106 added 107 runs for the 7th wicket with Amjad Javed who scored 42 runs against Ireland in Bribane. UAE scored 278 runs in 50 overs and gave Ireland a run for their money, who won by just 2 wickets with Gary Wilson making 80 runs.
   7th wkt Amjad Javed &amp; Nasir Aziz – 107 
 U.A.E. v West Indies, Napier, 2015 
In another group match, UAE scored 175 runs against West Indies. Their main heroes were Amjad Javed (56) and Nasir Aziz (60), both of them who added 107 runs for the 7th wicket to get UAE to 175 runs. West Indies chased the total with comparative ease loosing just 4 wickets and Johnston Charles making 55 and Jonathan Carter making 50*.

Ireland collapsed to 111/5 when Kevin O’Brien walked in to join Alex Cusack, both of them added 162 runs for 6th wicket. O’Brien made 113 from 63 balls which was the fastest century in 50 balls and Cusack made 47 runs. Ireland finally won the match by 3 wickets in what is one of the most exciting match.

 South Africa v Zimbabwe, Hamilton, 2015

Zimbabwe made South Africa sweat in their group  match, reducing them to 83/4. But David Miller (138*) and JP Duminy (115*) added a record 256* runs for the 5th wicket. They took South Africa to 339 runs in 50 overs. Zimbabwe scored 277 runs with Hamilton Masakadza making 80 runs, but lost the match by 62 runs.

Australia met Netherlands in a group match in Basseterre in 2007 World Cup. Australia batted first and made 358/5 in 50 overs with Michael Clarke making 93* and Brad Hodge making 123 in 89 balls. Both of them added 204 runs for the 4th wicket, a World Cup record. 
Netherlands could only muster 129 runs to lose by 229 runs, with Brad Hogg taking 4/27.

India batted first against Kenya, who reduced India to 92/2. Then Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, who was coming back from his father’s funeral, added 237* runs for the 3rd wicket. Dravid scored 104* and Tendulkar destroyed Kenyan bowling making 140* in 101 balls. India made 329/2 in 50 overs.
Kenya could make 235/7 in 50 overs with Steve Tikolo making 58 and Debashish Mohanty taking 4/56. India won by 94 runs.

Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels added a World and World Cup record of 372 runs for the 2nd wicket against Zimbabwe. West Indies batted first and made 372 runs in 50 overs after losing Dwayne Smith on the 2nd ball of the innings. Chris Gayle scored the first double hundred 215 and Samuels scored his career best 133* in 49.4 overs. This is the highest runs for any partnership in ODI history breaking Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid’s rcord of 331* runs, made against New Zealand in 1999-2000.
Zimbabwe replied with 289 runs with Sean Williams making 89 runs, but lost the match  by 73 runs using D/L method.

The record for the highest 1st wicket partnership in World Cups is held by Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga against Zimbabwe, they made 282 runs out of a team score of 327 runs. Dilshan made 144 and Tharanga made 133 runs.
Zimbabwe could only make 188 runs with Brendan Taylor making 80 runs and Dilshan taking 4/4. Zimbabwe lost the match by 139 runs.
