Former West Indies pacer Tino Best and England pacer Jofra Archer got indulged in a verbal war on Twitter as the former was not happy with the latter’s inclusion in England’s Test playing XI ahead of seasoned campaigner Stuart Broad. The ongoing Test series between England and West Indies marks the return of the game after an unwanted break of 117 days due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The England Test team is expected to play three matches against West Indies followed by three matches against Pakistan in the month of August. In order to keep the players fit, selectors decided to rotate the fast bowlers throughout the two series. As a result, Stuart Broad was rested for the first match against West Indies.

However, selection of Jofra Archer ahead of Broad didn’t go well with Tino Best as he raised questions over Jofra’s capabilities via Twitter. He criticized Archer saying that the pacer is not generating any significant pace for which he was picked before legendary player Stuart.

Tino wrote on his twitter handle, “Honestly why Archer playing before Broad chaaaaa fair is fair tho, cause u have Wood bowling 90+ , And he’s bowling the same pace as Broad , I have no problem with Broad being pissed #EngVsWI ….. that’s not fair at all.”

However, the comments made by Best irked Archer as he took a sarcastic dig on the West Indies legend. He wrote,” With all this knowledge how are you not a coach yet ?”

The verbal war between Tino Best and Jofra Archer continues

The war of words didn’t end there as Tino further slammed the England pacer for his bowling skills and told him to sleep to keep himself fresh for the match against West Indies.

“Don’t address me personally Young man, the fact remains your bowling toothpaste and u haven’t bowled Quickly since ASHES , now go sleep and get some rest for WI to beat ya ball in the second innings bye Jorfa”

Not the one to back out Archer told Tino that he must be living a miserable life as he made such remarks on his talent. The Barbadian-born English bowler has represented England in just 7 Test matches till now. In the 7 Tests played, the 25-year-old has taken 30 wickets at an economy of 3.00 while maintaining an average of 27.4.

After an intense verbal war, Tino suddenly took u-turn as he apologized to Jofra by posting a couple of tweets. Instead, he told Archer that he has pure admiration for him and wants him to play well. Best also added that the friends of the English bowlers always try to create a rift between the two by sending him manipulated screenshots of his chats.

In another tweet, Tino apologized to Archer saying that this isn’t time for such things. Further, he said that he wants Jofra to bowl frigging wheels and get the cricket world excited again. He also asked people to stop fueling the fight between the two cricketers and just chill out.
