Jaydev Unadkat made his international debut way back in 2010 in the Test against South Africa in Centurion. He was rushed into the arena being the left-arm pacer and it goes without saying that he was dropped after the series. He last played an ODI in 2013 and then wasn’t even in the pecking order. However, Unadkat made a stunning comeback in the Indian team for the Nidahas Trophy last year.

His 2017 IPL season with the now-defunct franchise Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) was terrific. The current Saurashtra captain scalped as many as 24 wickets in the 12 matches and ended being the second highest-taker of the season. His average of 13.41 was the best among all the bowlers and had also picked one of the only two five-wicket hauls of that IPL edition.

But he couldn’t grab on to the opportunity in the Nidahas Trophy and once again lost his place in the side. Moreover, a poor 2018 IPL led to him being criticised a lot by many. Jaydev Unadkat though is finding his rhythm slowly again and feels that his time will surely come despite a lot of competition for the pace bowling slots in the national team.

All bowlers are doing well

“To be honest, all the bowlers are doing very well with the chances they are getting. If you see, it is the best crop of pace bowlers we have had in the history of Test cricket, so it cannot get better in terms of competition. If I keep on playing the way I am at the moment, I definitely feel the time will come,” Undakat said while speaking to the Times of India.

He also went on to say that he is currently focussing only on the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament and is keen on winning the games for his team Saurashtra. “I have been called up when I was doing well in the past and I still feel my time will come. I am going to wait for my time. I am taking it one game at a time. Right now, the focus is to help Saurashtra win every single game,” the 27-year-old added.
