Indian Test captain Virat Kohli on Tuesday was named the brand ambassador of luxury watch company Tissot  He joins reigning Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone in being the face of the brand, who has been representing Tissot since 2007.

Speaking at the event, Virat Kohli expressed his excitement of coming on board. “It is an honour to be chosen by Tissot. Tissot is a brand that is recognised for its precision and I also hold that very close to my performances. A watch is about the only accessory I love wearing and I am so happy that Tissot is what I will be wearing now. I am looking forward to our journey together,” Kohli said.

François Thiebaud, president of Tissot said: “I am very happy to welcome Virat Kohli in the Tissot family. Tissot is a brand with strong heritage just like the Indian culture. In addition, we have a deep connection with sports. Therefore, Virat, who is one of the best cricketers in the world, is the perfect ambassador for us. We wish for him and his team to win the next Cricket World Championship.”

On this occasion, Virat Kohli was presented with Tissot’s classic collection – Chemin des Tourelles. It takes its name from the street in Le Locle, Switzerland, where the Tissot manufacture was established in 1907, and where the company can still be found today.

The press event, though, took a different turn after a while and focused on Virat’s personal life more. The journalists were eager to dig him about his relationship with Anushka Sharma. The Delhi batsman gave straightforward answers to any questions related to his love affair during the event.

“Relationship with who? Anyone? I am not a relationship counsellor. So that’s not a question you should be asking me. Ask the expert please,” Kohli was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

When a journalist asked which Bollywood celebrity he would love to gift a watch he said, “I would gift it to someone in my family first. I don’t know why that question. What’s the connect? It could be a cricket team member as well. Let’s stick to what we are here for rather than trying to swing things in the other direction.”

Virat Kohli admitted to crossing the line on the field a couple of times and said he would like to correct it if possible. “I would like to correct many things if possible. On the cricket field, I have crossed the line quite a few times but one commits a mistake and then, learns,” said Virat.
