Naseem Shah is deemed as one of the pacers from Pakistan cricket who is going to make big in the upcoming days. Due to his unquestionable talent, he marked his place in Pakistan’s tour of Australia in 2019 and since then developed himself as one of the desired prospects. He is currently up with Southern Punjab in the ongoing National T20 Cup.

In the recent turn of events, Pakistan Cricket released a video where the young pacer could be seen talking about his struggles during his initial playing days and also threw light on his idol. Interestingly, Shah added that when he used to play Under-16 cricket, he used to follow New Zealand’s Shane Bond and loved his action too.

Shah explained that he had a great fascination for the game of cricket and wanted to play it all the time. It was during his struggling days only that people made him realize that he is producing pace and he should opt for hard-ball cricket. The young pacer would even go on playing cricket during his breaks as well.

“I used to play at home and in the streets. After playing tape-ball cricket for some time, people told me that I was bowling fast and I should play hard-ball cricket. After that, I started playing hard-ball cricket. I used to play cricket in school and during lunch breaks as well. There was so much fascination with this game and I wanted to play it all the time. When I was playing U16 cricket, I saw Shane Bond’s bowling. I loved his action and always wanted to bowl like him,” said Naseem as quoted by Cricwick.

I think aggression is one of the key elements of a pacer: Naseem Shah

Talking about his approach in cricket, Shah added that a pacer should be aggressive in his approach as a batter should be ready for the action and it should seem like a war. The Pakistan pacer also added that he used to see videos of fast bowlers like Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar to learn better tactics.

“I saw videos of our legendary fast bowlers and I think aggression is one of the key elements of a pacer. I don’t think fast bowlers should joke around with batters. A batsman should be aware that a pace bowler is coming at him and it is almost like a war,” added Naseem.
