The former Australian captain Shane Warne believes that there is no chance for the Men in Blue to make a comeback in the second Test of the four-match Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, starting from December 26 in Melbourne. Warne feels that the visiting nation will get smoked by 0-4 in the Test series.

India had suffered an annihilation in the second innings of the first Test in Adelaide as they had registered a paltry total of 36, their lowest ever score in the purest format of the game. The pacers Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins had scripted victory for the host team.

Thus, the spin wizard Shane Warne reckoned that it will be difficult for India to forget their horrendous outing in the Adelaide Test and Australia is probably going to blow them away. Discussing India’s chances with Tom Morris ahead of the 2nd Test, Shane Warne said on Fox Sports, “I think Australia is probably going to blow them away. They will be a bit shocked by what happened at Adelaide.”

India have some class players to come in: Shane Warne

Indian contingent also received a massive setback as their ace pacer Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the remainder of three games against Australia after sustaining a fracture in his bowling arm. Speaking about Shami, Shane Warne said that India will dearly miss Shami as the Melbourne conditions are perfect for him.

“(Mohammed) Shami is a huge loss as well. He’s such a quality bowler. And if you look at bowlers for the Melbourne conditions, drop-in pitches, Shami hits the seam and stands it up, and bowls a good length and straight.”

Though Warne believes that Australia will dominate the visiting team, he reckoned that India might have a chance of making a comeback in the series if they get their Playing XI right. India is expected to make as many as five changes in their team in the second game. It is speculated that KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rishabh Pant will feature in the second game.

“Having said that, they have some class players to come in like KL Rahul. Young Gill will come in. (Ajinkya) Rahane is a class act. We know what (Cheteshwar) Pujara can do,” Warne concluded.
