In the recent turn of events, Pakistan’s head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis have stepped down from their roles ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021.  In the same turn of events, former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has slammed both of them for quitting their roles ahead of the high-profile event.

Ramiz Raja has taken the charge as PCB chairman and Akhtar felt that he would have not spared both of them for the poor performances of Pakistan. Akhtar even compared the situation of fleeing away of Misbah and Younis to that of the Taliban and America.

“I think what happened here [Waqar, Misbah’s resignations] is similar to what the Taliban did to the American forces. I think they knew that Ramiz Raja would not spare them hence they decided to leave,” said Akhtar as quoted by geo tv.

Akhtar went on to add that both of them should have at least waited for PCB’s decision rather than announcing their decision themselves. The decision also turns out in bad light as it just came before the T20 World Cup. Rawalpindi Express stated that both the coaches were afraid that they will get exposed and hence, they ran away.

If the PCB wanted to sack you then you should have let them: Shoaib Akhtar

“Whether he is a good man or a bad man. He can be the world’s fastest bowler for that matter but in the end, he will get exposed. I think both of them exposed themselves by running. If the PCB wanted to sack you then you should have let them. You should have put in 100% for the World Cup and then [resigned]. But what can a coward do, except running away.? added Akhtar.

It has to be noted that Misbah stepped down from his roles due to bio bubble fatigue and the tight-packed calendar of the Pakistan cricket team. He stated that due to Pakistan’s international schedule, he would have to spend the major portion of his time inside bio-bubble and will have to remain away from his family. Hence, he decided to quit his role and Younis followed in his footsteps.
