Young Royal Challengers batsman Sarfraz Khan has mesmerized with his unorthodox batting approached, earning respect from his senior teammates. The young gun has shown his hunger for run scoring in his short bursts of cameos he plays at the death.

Speaking ahead of the Royal Challengers clash with Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Sarfraz says that he wishes he doesn’t get a chance to bat here as that would mean that his top order has done well.

“I wish I don’t get a chance to bat because that would mean our top order has done the job well. However, if I get to bat, I will try and do the best I can for my team. I want to give off my best in this IPL as compared to last year. After the first match of this season, the seniors gave me a lot of confidence and told me to keep playing my natural game, according to the situation,” said Sarfaraz.

The last time when RCB played MI at Wankhede on May 10, 2015, the young batting sensation could get a chance to bat and waited in the wings as AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli stole the show.

Sarfraz was involved in a controversy when he moved to Uttar Pradesh from his actual home team Mumbai to play first class cricket. His decision to leave Mumbai to play first-class cricket for Uttar Pradesh obviously did not go down well with many officials of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

However, the cricketer says he isn’t worried about it and is not looking to prove anything on his former home ground.

“I have stopped thinking about all these things now (leaving Mumbai for Uttar Pradesh). I only want to concentrate on my game and do well for my team,” he said. In fact, he hopes he doesn’t get a chance to bat at Wankhede today.
