Andrew Symonds‘ sister Louise Symonds penned a heartfelt note for her brother at the accident site. Symonds, aged 46, died in a car accident about 50 kilometers outside Townsville on Saturday (May 14) night and it was a huge shocker to swallow for the cricketing fraternity.

Symonds was born in Birmingham, England and he went on to play 26 Tests, 198 ODIs and 14 T20I for Australia from the period of 1998 to 2009. He was more of an aggressive batter in the middle-order and played as an all-rounder as well with his medium-pace bowling or the off-spin. He was also one of the best fielders of the generation and his incredible fielding efforts will always be etched in the memories of the fans.

Coming back to Louis’ heartfelt message for Symonds, she noted on a piece of paper her love for him and wished she had one more day and one more phone call with the former Australian all-rounder. She added that her heart had been broken by the news and revealed about loving him always.

‘I wish we had one more day, one more phone call’ – Andrew Symonds’ sister in her note

“Gone far too soon. Rest in Peace Andrew. I wish we had one more day, one more phone call. My heart is broken, I will always love you brother” Louis’s heartfelt note read.

Symonds was part of two World Cup-winning campaigns for Australia and he was one of the big names when the IPL had inaugurated in 2008 purely based on destructive hitting skills. He has played a lot of valiant knocks for the side including the unbeaten 162* in 2008 against India to retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

“Australian cricket has lost another of its very best. Andrew was a generational talent who was instrumental in Australia’s success at World Cups and as part of Queensland’s rich cricket history,” Cricket Australia confirmed the news through a statement to chair Lachlan Henderson as quoted by Cricbuzz.
