Former Australia skipper Ian Chappell has lashed out at the Pakistan team management as well as their incumbent Test match skipper Misbah-ul-Haq following some of the performances by the visitors in their ongoing tour down under.

Chappell, who is outspoken in most of his views also went on to add that Misbah should have been sacked following the second Test match in Melbourne on grounds of some ordinary captaincy in recent times. Speaking at the close of the first day’s play, Chappell went on to state that the business of Misbah wanting to retire as and when he pleased was something that should not be encouraged.

“This business that it’s ‘up to Misbah’ whether he wants to play or not – that’s rubbish – it’s up to the selectors,” Chappell said. “Is Misbah good enough to be in the cricket team? No, not at the moment.

Ian Chappell, who was forced out of his position as Aussie skipper when his brother Greg was ready, went on to state that Misbah’s batting has certainly not been up to the mark in recent times. “His captaincy is very ordinary and his batting is horrible – he should have been out.

He went on to conclude that there would be someone better and with a future when it came to replacing Misbah in the side in the near future. “Particularly in a dead series. The man’s 42 – give somebody who you think has got a bit of a future in the game a match at the SCG and find out something about them. But this business of waiting to see when Misbah wants to retire – rubbish – sack him if he’s not good enough.”
