The International Cricket Council’s team ODI rankings has been expanded to 16 teams now after they decided to add four new teams to the list. Scotland, United Arab Emirates, Nepal and Netherlands are the four new additions as they joined the 12 Test playing nations. The Dutch were awarded the ODI status after they won the ICC World Cricket League Championship last year while the other three nations came through as the leading associates in the 2018 ICC World Cup Qualifier.

While Scotland has managed to grab the 13th spot in the rankings with 28 points, UAE follows them with 18 rating points to their name. Nepal and Netherlands (13 rating points) do not have an official ranking yet as they will have to play four matches each to qualify for the same. However, only 10 teams will compete in the World Cup next year which is scheduled to take place in England.

England remain at the top

England have managed to keep their numero uno position with 125 rating points as India lag them by only three points. Both the teams will lock horns in July for the three-match ODI series which will commence on July 12. There is a gap of 9 points then as South Africa has grabbed the third position who have been recently jolted by the sudden international retirement of AB de Villiers. New Zealand are just behind the Proteas with 112 rating points to their name.

Australia have been dropped to 5th spot as they will face England in the five-match tussle starting from June 13. The hosts are the favourites to clinch this series as well and they will look to strengthen their position at the top. On the other hand, the team from Down Under will miss Steve Smith and David Warner in their line-up and will be led by Tim Paine. Bangladesh has eclipsed Sri Lanka to rise at the seventh spot and lead them by a massive 16 points.
