ICC backs the match officials for the decision in India vs Bangladesh quarter-final: India beat Bangladesh quite comprehensively by 109 wickets as the two Asian teams battled it out in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 quarter-finals for a semi final spot. Indian opener Rohit Sharma who was due for a knock played a top class ODI innings scoring a hundred yesterday. The maturity and timing of the innings won him more praises than for the double hundreds.

Though the match got over yesterday it is still being discussed over the controversial decision which went against Bangladesh’s favor. Rohit was given not out after being caught off a full toss. The third umpire was asked for his view and he felt that the ball was above the batsman’s waist and was not good enough to be a legal delivery. Rohit Sharma was young in his innings then and India was struggling to get going. For what happened then on and the outcome of the match a large number of Bangladesh supporters have been crying foul about the decision being influential to favor the Indian team.

Mustafa Kamal the ICC President who is also a Bangladesh national also criticized the match officials for their decision. Being and ICC office bearer and amid of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 it came as quite an unnecessary statement by him.

The International Cricket Council found an instant need to clarify their stand and regarded it as his personal comment and that the council was backing its official for the decision as it was a really close call.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive David Richardson today issued the following statement following comments about the match officials in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 quarter-final between Bangladesh and India in Melbourne on Thursday.

“The ICC has noted Mr Mustafa Kamal’s comments, which are very unfortunate but made in his personal capacity. As an ICC President, he should have been more considerate in his criticism of ICC match officials, whose integrity cannot be questioned.

“The no-ball decision was a 50-50 call. The spirit of the game dictates that the umpire’s decision is final and must be respected.

“Any suggestion that the match officials had “an agenda” or did anything other than perform to the best of their ability are baseless and are refuted in the strongest possible terms.

“We now look forward to an exciting last few matches of what has been a very successful and interesting ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.”
