Match Details:

The 3rd game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers, 2019 in Group A will be played between Netherlands and Kenya will be played at the ICC Cricket Academy Ground in Dubai.

The match starts at 2:10 PM local time (10:10 AM GMT) (3:40 PM IST).

Preview:

Netherlands and Kenya will kick start their campaign in the Qualifiers on Friday when they face off at the ICC Academy Ground. Kenya’s highlight came in the 2003 World Cup where they stunned everyone by making it to the semi-finals but are on the decline since then. They reached the Qualifiers by topping the Africa-Eastern sub-region qualifiers. On the other hand, the Netherlands are set to be boosted by the inclusion of Colin Ackermann and Ryan ten Doeschate.

Despite a strong line-up, the Dutch team has failed to win matches more often. They now have selection headaches caused by the return of big players. Shane Snater and Fred Klaassen have been T20 regulars for the Netherlands. The arrival of Doeschate and Ackerman would mean there is no more need for Snater’s all-round role. Klaassen could make way for fitting both Van Meekeren and Van der Gugten.

Weather Condition/Report:

Bit of cloud cover is expected during the afternoon at the ICC Academy Ground on Friday. However, there are no chances of rain and the game is expected to be played without any interruption.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The ICC Cricket Academy Ground in Dubai stood host for five T20I matches this year. One of them ended without a result after completion of the first innings while the other game was reduced to 10 overs aside. We could witness scores over 160+ in the first few matches due to fresh pitches which are slower in nature. The majority of wickets here go to spinners and slow bowlers.

Average first innings score: 147 (Completed T20Is in 2019)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 1, Lost – 2

Top Picks:

Colin Ackermann needs to be more consistent than scoring 30s alongside taking wickets. Max O’Dowd has scored four fifties in 11 T20Is this year. Shem Ngoche is a regular wicket-taker while Pieter Seelaar has been in good form with the bat as well. Collins Obuya and Rakep Patel have good records in the shorter format with both bat and ball. Ryan ten Doeschate has a pretty good batting average in T20I format like in ODIs. He scored 300 at 42.85 in the T20Is for the Dutch team.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Captain – Colin Ackermann, Collins Obuya, Rakep Patel, Ben Cooper.

Vice-Captain – Max O’Dowd, Pieter Seelaar, Dhiren Gondaria, Tobias Visée.

Rakep Patel and Colin Ackermann will be safe options as vice-captains given their dual roles.

Suggested Playing XI No.1 for Fantasy Cricket:

Keeper – Tobias Visée

Batters – Max O’Dowd, Ben Cooper (C), Rakep Patel (VC)

All-Rounders – Pieter Seelaar, Colin Ackermann, Collins Obuya, Shem Ngoche

Bowlers – Paul van Meekeren, Nelson Odhiambo, Elijah Otieno

Suggested Playing XI No.2 for Fantasy Cricket:

Keeper – Tobias Visée

Batters – Max O’Dowd, Ryan ten Doeschate, Dhiren Gondaria, Rakep Patel

All-Rounders – Colin Ackermann (VC), Collins Obuya (C), Roelof van der Merwe

Bowlers – Brandon Glover, Pushpak Kerai, Nelson Odhiambo

Expert Advice:

Ryan ten Doeschate might be a risky pick as he is likely to bat as low as No.5 or No.6. Pieter Seelaar will be good choice as he expected to bat ahead of him and will bowl four overs. However, Roelof van der Merwe will be best among all-rounders category.

Probable Winners:

The Netherlands looks pretty strong on the paper and is likely to start with a win.
