ICC ODI Rankings for Batsmen – Shikhar Dhawan faces a Dip with 3 Indians in the TOP 10: In the lately released ICC ODI Rankings for batsmen, three of the Indians have managed to hold their position in the top 10 of the list. Shikhar Dhawan faced a dip of a position (from sixth to seventh) in the list despite being the leading run scorer of the series with 158 runs in 3 matches against Bangladesh. MS Dhoni managed to score 121 runs in the series and he holds the eighth spot of the rankings, next to Dhawan.
Suresh Raina who sneaked in a healthy cameo of 38 runs off 21 deliveries in the final ODI, has managed to get a raise in his position in the ranking from 20th to 18th. Also, the Bangladeshi players have mostly improved their statures in the ranking list. Soumya Sarkar has moved up to 15 places in the ranking owing to his serious contributions with the bat for Bangladesh. He has scored 54, 34 and 40 in the series. While other batsmen who have improved their rankings include Shakib Al Hasan (raised to two places to 31st) and Nasir Hossain(raised to three places to 38th).
New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has performed incredibly well in the 5-match ODI series against England and managed to score 396 runs in the 5 matches. This has helped him to jump to the sixth position in the rankings and he is just 7 points behind Tilakaratne Dilshan, the Sri Lankan opening batsman. Another kiwi, Ross Taylor has managed to sneak in two places to the ninth position after striking two centuries in the series against England, scoring a total of 375 runs in 5 matches.
England’s Joe Root performed well in the bilateral series and scored a total of 274 runs. This helped the right handed batsman jump to the 11th spot in the rankings. Jos Buttler stands to be the second English batsman to Root as he is poised in the 17th position.
The English skipper, Eoin Morgan, with the aid of 322 runs in the series has moved up to 15 places to the 30th position in the ODI rankings.
AB de Villiers leads the chart for the ODI rankings with a whooping 902 points.
