Cricket is a game that has found enormous passion all across the subcontinent. Though the sport originated in England, the Asians have taken the love to a different height. Millions want to play cricket but only a handful eventually manage to do that. Those who couldn’t realize the dream of representing the national team find new ways to channelize their passion. Some have even opted to train their kids from a really young age to make sure they go the distance.

Wonder kid

The International Cricket Council (ICC) in order to interact with fans and to give them a medium to showcase their home-made cricket videos started a new series. They now share the fan of the week videos on their social media handles and make sure thousands of people around the world can watch the special fans. This week their pick was a young Bangladeshi kid Ali.

The two-year-old boy is trained by his father in their house and is playing the same shot against all the balls darted his way. He tries to drives everything on the off-side, he hit some really crisp shots, missed a few but what was interesting to watch is his timing. Ali’s father gave him instruction –

“Follow the line of the ball

Hold the bat tighter

Try to hit in the same way

Hit, hit again, hit hard!

Move across again, hold the bat high, but hit low.

Move your hands towards the line of the ball.”

After a while he was tired and said, “Alright enough dad.” His Dad now wanted him to hit a few over his head for sixes before wrapping up, “Last four balls, hit sixes, over the head!”

The ICC tweeted: “He’s only two, but his off-side technique is absolutely gorgeous. Strike a pose Ali – you are the ICC’s Fan of the Week! With some more throw-downs from dad, you could very well be playing for Bangladesh one day.”

Here’s ICC’s post for their fan of the week:

This was not the end though. The ICC even went to the extent of sharing a remix version of the same video.
