Not many gave England a chance to win the third Ashes Test after they were bundled out for 67 runs in the first innings. Moreover, they had never gunned down the target in excess of 350 in their Test history. But a certain Ben Stokes was in the middle and was determined to keep the Ashes alive for his team and he successfully did it. Stokes stitched an unbeaten 76-run partnership with Jack Leach for the last wicket to achieve the unthinkable.

However, long before the miracle happened in Leeds, the official Instagram handle of the International Cricket Council (ICC) committed a blunder. With the match still in progress, the ICC congratulated Australia for retaining the Ashes predicting their victory with Stokes in the middle. After some time it deleted the post but the damage was already done and the netizens were ready with the trolls.

Stokes wins it for England

Rather very few saw Ben Stokes winning the Headingley Test for England. And soon after the southpaw smacked the ball through covers to get his team over the line in a record chase made things worse for ICC as many trolled them for getting their prediction wrong. But to be fair to the world cricketing body, Australia were the clear favourites and England winning was the last possibility on the day.

Ben Stokes played a gem of a knock to remain unbeaten on 135 while Jack Leach scored the greatest ever single which eventually tied the scores. Stokes was praised to the hilt by many for his impeccable batting. This is the second time he has pulled England out of the hole in two months and both the matches had a big prize attached to it.

Stokes had played a mind-boggling innings in the World Cup final at Lord’s due to which England could tie the match and take it to the super over. This time around, the all-rounder managed to keep his team alive in the Ashes and has successfully levelled the five-match series.
