Match Details:

The 1st match (Reserve Day) of the 2019 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier between Bangladesh Women and Papua New Guinea Women will be played at the Forthill in Dundee.

Preview:

The game between Bangladesh Women and Papua New Guinea Women was supposed to be the opening match of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier. However, the rain gods ensured the match was abandoned. Since there is a reserve day facility, the two sides will face off on Monday after two days of action in the tournament. Both the teams head into this match having won the previous.

Bangladesh trashed USA as expected in the game on Sunday afternoon. Their bowlers rolled over the opposition batting as USA were bundled out for only 46. Bangladesh needed 8.2 overs at the cost of two wickets for chasing the target. While in the game on Sunday, the PNG Women took down Scotland by chasing down the target of 102 comfortably. PNG lost only six wickets to complete the chase.

Weather Condition/Report:

The reserve day option might give a chance of deciding a winner among Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea. However, the weather has other ideas as there are good chances of a rain-interrupted game on Monday. Showers are expected between 9 AM and 2 PM on match day which conflicts with the timings of the match.

Pitch Condition/Report:

Chasing has been extremely tough at the Forthill in this tournament. While there have been successful chases at the other venue, the teams batting first won all matches in Dundee. It also indicates the slowness of the pitch at this venue in the second half.

Expert Advice:

The captains of both teams Salma Khatun and Kaia Arua have great numbers in the T20I format. However, both haven’t allowed other players to step up which will reduce the fantasy potential of the two.

Bangladesh Women will start as favourites for this match.
