ICC World Cup 2019: 5 different XIs India can use in the tournament

Putting down curtains on all the expectations and the anticipations, the selectors finally announced the India squad for ICC Men’s 50-over World Cup 2019. Most of the players in the current set-up pick themselves in the squad. However, there were a few important decisions that were to be taken. One would feel that the selection committee did a fair job. They put emphasis on experience and that is how you win big tournaments. However, the captain and the management have got a good headache as all the fifteen players picked are of high quality. Thus, picking the eleven would be quite a stern task and Team India has got five possible options to look out for. Here are five possible options for Team India: Team 1 Indian team. (Photo by Hannah Peters/Getty Images) This team will have Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan opening the innings. The skipper Virat Kohli will bat at three followed by Vijay Shankar. The selectors informed that the all-rounder will be the first choice for the number four slot. MS Dhoni will keep wickets and bat at number five. Kedar Jadhav will take up the role of a finisher in this side. Hardik Pandya will be there for assistance and he might have to bowl quite a few overs as well. Both the spin twins – Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav will feature in this eleven while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah will be the two pacers. Bhuvi has the ability to bat at number eight as well. However, there is a change in the number four position in this eleven. Since Vijay Shankar isn’t there, either MS Dhoni or Dinesh Karthik can take up the slot. The Jharkhand cricketer is likely to bat at four if this team is chosen while Dinesh Karthik and Kedar Jadhav will follow next. While the spin twins remain the same, the pace department will see a change. Instead of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, it will be Mohammed Shami who will take the field. However, Shikhar Dhawan isn’t in the best of forms at the moment. He looks slightly tentative and isn’t confident while he plays his shots. Even though he scored a 90-odd score recently, he failed in the immediate next game. Thus, if this trend continues, KL Rahul could open with Rohit Sharma. The rest of the side is pretty much the same as the first one with the likes of Vijay Shankar, MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav in the middle order. Both the spinners will feature in this eleven as well while Mohammed Shami finds no place. This will mean that Virat Kohli will be slotted down to the number four position. This plan was tried in England last year and has worked alright. The next three batsmen in the line-up will be the same. However, there is no Kuldeep Yadav in this eleven. Ravindra Jadeja will take his place and will add depth to the batting line-up. Chahal, Bhuvi and Bumrah finish this line-up. Thus, it only makes sense to play all of them together in at least one of the games and choke the opposition out. The top-order till MS Dhoni remains the same as the one in the first team. Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya are left out here. Instead, Dinesh Karthik will be the finisher while Jadeja triples up as a great spinner, decent batsman and an electric fielder. Even in this side, there will not be Mohammed Shami as he could possibly be looked at as the third pacer.
