The twenty-first of World Cup 2019 match will see two beleaguered teams — South Africa and Afghanistan — lock horns at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. Either of the team hasn’t won a single match in the mega event so far playing 4 (South Africa) and 3 (Afghanistan) matches each. Consequently, they have touched the rock bottom of the points table. While Afghanistan are languishing at the tenth spot, South Africa are slightly better than them at the ninth with 1 point due to No Result match against Windes.

While neither of the two have managed to win any game so far, South Africa have one point in their kitty thanks to the washed out game against West Indies. The Proteas were reeling at 29 for 2 before the rain interrupted and saved them from a tight spot. Before that, they had suffered a crushing six wicket-loss at the hands of India. Asked to bat first, they managed to score just 227 for 9. In reply, India had chased down the total by losing just four wickets. South Africa will be desperate to register their first win of the tournament.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, suffered a heavy seven wicket-defeat against high-flying New Zealand. With New Zealand’s pacers in supreme form, Afghanistan could not do much and were all out for just 172. Not very surprisingly, New Zealand chased down the total without breaking much of a sweat. The Black Caps chased down the total by losing just three wickets. The road ahead for Afghanistan is looking only tougher. With South Africa not in good form at the moment, they should fancy their chances and can very well cause an upset.
