After losing to England in the tournament opener, South Africa will hope to record their first win of the World Cup 2019 against Bangladesh. The Asian side is by no means a pushover but they don’t enter into this game as the favourites and would love to prove the experts wrong. Bangladesh are coming into the competition on the back of a great win in the tri-series in Ireland but the pressure of playing in the ICC event is huge.

Dale Steyn is still not expected to take the field for South Africa and Faf du Plessis might want to go into this game unchanged unless last minute injuries disturb their plans. Bangladesh are literally fighting to get their players fit ahead of their opening game and the latest to join the list is Tamim Iqbal who was hit on the wrist in the nets. Rubel Hossain is expected to play given the pace he brings to the table.

Match Details

The 5th match of the ICC World Cup 2019 will be played between South Africa and Bangladesh at the Kennington Oval in London.

The match starts at 10:30 AM local time (09:30 AM GMT) (3:00 PM IST).

The game will be live on Star Sports. Live streaming available on Hotstar.

Weather Report

The unpredictable weather in the United Kingdom continues to confuse teams. It will again, like the first match, remain cloudy throughout the game without the intervention of rain. Rather, during England vs South Africa game, the sun also came out in the first innings. The temperature will hover around 17-20 Degrees Celsius with 7% chance of rain in the afternoon.

Pitch Report

The surface at the Kennington Oval wasn’t as flat as it was expected to be in the first match. Still, England managed to score 311 runs and defended it. The ball gripped in the surface a bit and if the same happens in this game, the 300 should be the par score again.

Average first innings score: 234 (last seven One-Day matches (include World Cup warm-ups) at the venue)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 3; Lost – 4

Expert Advice:

Tamim Iqbal doesn’t boast of a great record against South Africa and could be ignored. He is doubtful for this game as well.

Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis average in excess of 60 against Bangladesh and could be made captain. Same is the case with Quinton de Kock.

Probable Winners:

South Africa are expected to get better of Bangladesh and register their first win.
