Former Australian cricketer and legendary spinner Shane Warne has recently revealed his favourites to the win the ICC Cricket World Cup of 2019, that starts on May 30. He also spoke highly of the current Australian team led by Aaron Finch who emerged victorious against the fully loaded Indian team. He further said that the Aussies have enough confidence to defend their World Cup title, in England and Wales.

When Australia began the tour in the sub-continent it was unimaginable the way the visitors pulled off the 3-2 triumph, especially after trailing by 2-0 initially. And this was carried out in the absence of Steve Smith and David Warner, the two pillars of the Australian team. So the win against India was a huge lift to the confidence of the defending Champions of the World event.

The legendary wrist-spinner had prophesied that the prolific David Warner will top the batting department in the 2019 World Cup. He spoke highly of Warner’s hunger for runs, a factor that might even have even increased further due to his one-year exile from international cricket. There’s no doubt as to the fact that the Australian batting line-up will only strengthen with the comeback of these two players.

Shane Warne predicts the World Cup Champions

Shane Warne has recently labeled India and World Cup hosts England as the favourites to win the big tournament. “India and England have to be the favorites. They’ve played great cricket over the last 12 months. But Australia has won four out of the last six World Cups. They won the last one in England (in 1999), they love big tournaments,” Warne told Hindustan Times.

However, the Australian legend hasn’t ruled the Aussies out of the frame at all. The ex-cricketer believes that Australia being the defending champions have the capacity to elevate their game in the big tournaments such as the World Cup.

They’ve got (Steve) Smith and (David) Warner coming back who are hungry and determined. They chased down 360 without Smith and Warner. I think Australia will win the World Cup. They’ve finally found their belief that they can win from anywhere. Australia will win the World Cup but India and England go in as favorites,” Warne concluded.
