We are done and dusted with the first half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 and fans have been entertained with some exciting battles over the 22 yards. While the likes of Jos Buttler and KL Rahul have scored runs for fun, Yuzvendra Chahal and T Natarajan have been among the wickets. The points table also looks topsy-turvy at the halfway mark and it would be interesting to see which four teams will qualify for the playoffs.

Meanwhile, the group stage of the tournament is taking place across just four venues – three in Mumbai and one in Pune – but the tracks have still been brilliant to bat on. Owing to the same, we have seen the ball flying all over the park in many games. Speaking of big-hitting, some massive sixes have been witnessed in the ongoing tournament.

Dewald Brevis has burst onto the scenes

Now, you shouldn’t expect anything less when dashers like Jos Buttler, Andre Russell, and Kieron Pollard are in action. Surprisingly, however, the longest six so far in the competition has come off Dewald Brevis’ willow. Hailed as ‘Baby AB’, this 18-year-old lad has certainly made a name for himself in the ongoing competition. The Mumbai Indians star has shown remarkable character and seems all set to become the next big thing in world cricket.

So far, Brevis has smashed eight sixes this season and the biggest of them was recorded against Punjab Kings on April 13. He took on in-form leg-spinner Rahul Chahar and smashed him for four successive sixes in an over, two of which were over 100 meters. His biggest strike was a 112-meter six as he deposited the ball in the crowd.

This was also the joint-third longest six in the history of IPL as the Under-19 sensation now shares the record with giants like Chris Gayle and MS Dhoni. Meanwhile, besides Brevis, the likes of Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone have also been striking big this season and smashed over 100-meter sixes on multiple occasions.
