I'd have made bad choices, would've burnt it all if I got 2 or 3 crores at the age of 22-23: Harshal Patel
Hopefully, next year that changes and I’ll be paid well and when I’ll have that money, I’ll know what to do with it, Harshal also said.

Indian all-rounder Harshal Patel has revealed that he probably would have made bad choices if he was offered more than INR 2 Crores during his young age and is looking forward to the upcoming auction. The mega action for IPL 2022 is just ten days away from taking place in Bengaluru on January 12 and 13 and the 31-year-old will go under the hammer. Harshal had a fantastic IPL season for the RCB side where he picked up 32 wickets in 15 games to end up as the highest wicket taker in 2021.
His impressive stint earned him a maiden call up for India in the limited overs series against New Zealand later in the year and he is part of the squad for upcoming West Indies series as well. Since making his IPL debut in 2012, Harshal has grown in leaps and bounds and is one of the consistent performers in the domestic circuit for Haryana. He is a handy hitter down the order and a lot of teams will be looking up to him in the auction.
I would have probably burnt it all: Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel admitted that he would have found in difficult to handle a lumpsum of money in his younger age with a lot of distractions. Meanwhile, as many as 590 players have been shortlisted by franchises including a lot of surprises for the mega auction and Harshal is definitely among the top names that will be discussed by the franchises as it came as a big surprise when he wasn’t retained by the RCB franchise.
“At 22-23, if I had got 2 crore or 3 crore, I would have probably burnt it all. Obviously, I am a Gujarati so my family wouldn’t have let me do that (smiles) but as an individual, I would have made bad choices with that amount of money. Hopefully, next year that changes and I’ll be paid well and when I’ll have that money, I’ll know what to do with it and I won’t light it on fire,” Harshal told in RCB podcast.
RCB decided to retain Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj ahead of mega auction and they will have to pick a captain in the auction as well. Shreyas Iyer is expected to satisfy RCB requirements in terms of captaincy as well as a capped Indian star batter.
