England’s top order batting woes continue to bother them as both the openers Keaton Jennings and Alastair Cook failed to create impact in the series thus far. Even the No. 3 batsman Joe Root wasn’t upto the mark from the time he moved up the order. The only solution left for the hosts to solve the issue is to bring back their forgotten hero, Ian Bell.

Ian Bell is currently in good touch with the willow as he smashed a 204-run knock for Warwickshire in the County championship against Glamorgan. The 36-year-old also reached his personal milestone of 20,000 first class runs during the process of his double century. He registered a total of four centuries in the ongoing championship.

Bell has played 118 Tests smashing 7727 runs at an average of 42.69 with 46 half-centuries and 22 centuries. He was axed from for the England side in 2015 after he came up with poor performances. He wasn’t seen in the team after that time. Bell contemplated of calling it quits after the poor 2017 county season but he managed to extend his career and here he’s now with an outstanding county performance this season.

Ready to lift selectors call

Bell is ready for the international return. If the selectors call him, he’s ready to pick their call and move into the national team, “I’m happy. I’m playing well, I’m moving well and enjoying my cricket and the expectation and drive is here,” Bell told BBC WM after his marathon 204 effort. “Who knows what the next 12 months holds? [If England call] I’m sure I’ll answer the phone.”

He averaged just 25.91 in 2017 season, a complete break from the game in the off-season helped him to comeback to his best in the ongoing season. In 10 games so far this season, Bell has scored 871 runs at an impressive average of 62.21.
