IG of UP police Amitabh Thakur send Rs. 1000 cheque and thank you letter to Indian captain MS Dhoni: The Indian cricket team has been facing heated reactions from fans across the country and in Australia as the team lost to the hosts in semi final contest played between the two big teams. MS Dhoni and his men quietly returned home from Australia in the silence of moonlight. In what came as a amusing and surprising incident Inspector General of Uttar Pradesh Police Amitabh Thakur has sent a cheque of Rs. 1000 to the Indian captain along with a Thank You letter.

The Letter is not to thank them for their game or achievement on the cricket but, one for their exit from the tournament. Thakur reasons that due to the semi final clash on Friday, government offices saw a low attendance and the number which had tuned up initially kept on going down. A huge population of the country is mad about cricket and when it’s time for the World Cup, they are ready to sacrifice anything against watching the team play.

The Indian Police Services (IPS) officer Amitabh Thakur in the letter addressed to Dhoni wrote, “You are a celebrity and have your grip on other players of the team. Thus, you should appeal people working in government and private sectors to not leave their work for the Cricket match as it hampers the development of the country.”

He further added, “This society is as much yours as it belongs to the cricket fans that populate it. So it is your societal duty to not allow people to suspend government, financial and personal work in order to watch cricket matches.”

The IG of Civil Defence in UP Amitabh Thakur also sent the Rs. 1000 cheque to Dhoni’s residence in Ranchi on Friday.

Though the officer looks relatively pleased with India’s exit from the world cup; but just to mention, the final between Australia and New Zealand will be played on Sunday 29th March, 2015, so even if team India had qualified, it would not have made a huge impact on turn over’s.
