Former Zimbabwean skipper Brendan Taylor shook the cricketing world on the morning of January 24 when he opened in detail about his side of the horrific story of being approached by bookies in India. Taylor added how he was invited by a businessman in India to discuss ‘sponsorships’ and the launch of a T20 event in his nation. In the latest turn, India’s ace spinner Ravi Ashwin has put forward his stance on the same matter.
Ashwin while taking to his Twitter account added that awareness needs to be spread about the matter. However, most of the time there’s an option for players to either bet or fold the matter while getting such invitations at the poker table. Ashwin concluded by sending strength to Taylor and his family.
“Spread the awareness!! Most times the hand dealt to us at the poker table gives us an option to bet or fold!! It’s important to fold and leave the table! All strength to Brendan and his family,” tweeted Ashwin.

In a detailed note on his Twitter, the cricketer added that he was foolish to accept the bait in India and was blackmailed later over the same. He later added in his post how ICC will impose a ban on him over the same series of incidents and the cricketers around the world should take a lesson from his story. BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit Chief is being reported of getting details of the matter.
“We had drinks and during the course of the evening they openly offered me cocaine, which they themselves engaged in, and I foolishly took the bait. I’ve gone over it a million times since and still feel sick to my stomach reliving that night and how they played me.
“The following morning, the same men stormed into my hotel room and showed me a video taken of me the night before doing cocaine and told me that if I did not spot fix at international matches for them, the video would be released to the public,” an excerpt from Brendan Taylor’s confession read.
