Ramiz Raja, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has said that he has not spo0ken to his former skipper Imran Khan since a long time. Ramiz answered a number of queries from media members during a recent conversation while also outlining his and the side’s accomplishments during his tenure as board chairman.

However, the revelations about him losing touch with Imran Khan, and not being in touch with the current Prime Minister of the country Shabaz Sharif, who is the patron-in-chief of the PCB, raised a spark.

“Imran Bhai cut off contact with me. I haven’t talked to him for a long time now. We can’t live around speculations. I believe there is a need for continuity apart from political differences. See, our prime minister is our patron-in-chief, we have requested his time and if he meets us, we will tell him about our work. I think there is no need for ego here as, in the end, we all want upliftment of cricket.” Raja said, as quoted by Pakistan news website geosuper.tv.

“If there is anything in the constitution about the removal of PCB chairman every time, go ahead with it. Otherwise, fulfilling individual desires won’t work in favor of the game. The ball is in the court of him [PM Shahbaz],” the PCB chairman added.

Ramiz Raja against BCCI’s extended IPL window proposal

Ramiz Raja had previously said that he had received an invitation to the Indian Premier League (IPL) from Sourav Ganguly, the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), but had declined them out of fear of backlash from the supporters. Raja also said that he will challenge Indian Premier League’s proposed two-and-a-half-month extended window.

PCB recently announced massive changes in their contracting system by introducing separate contracts for red-ball and white-ball players. The 69th Board of Governors meeting saw plenty of developments being made to the policy so that the players who appear in both formats get to earn more.
