Virat Kohli’s 100th Test couldn’t have panned out better as India thrashed Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs in the opening game in Mohali. Coming to bat at number four, Kohli played some delightful shots and even looked set to muster a big score. However, he fell prey to Lasith Embuldeniya at the score of 45. Nonetheless, the hosts won the contest comprehensively and Kohli looked pleased.

Meanwhile, following the conclusion of the contest, Kohli gifted his jersey to one of his die-hard fans Dharmveer Pal, also known as the unofficial 12th man of the Indian team. The specially-abled fan travels alongside the national team for most matches across India and even on foreign tours at times. After the match got over, Kohli, before boarding the team bus, gifted Dharmveer his jersey as a special gesture.

Ravindra Jadeja stole the show in Virat Kohli’s 100th Test

The clip of the same went viral in no time as fans hailed the 33-year-old for his gesture. Coming back to the game, Ravindra Jadeja stole the show with his all-round heroics. Coming to bat at number seven, the southpaw put up a batting exhibition and slammed a breathtaking 175 not out. If that’s not enough, the left-arm spinner took a total of nine wickets in the game.

Needless to mention, the all-rounder was named the Player of the Match and is receiving praises from different corners. Notably, the Mohali Test also marked Rohit Sharma’s first assignment as Test captain and he was mighty pleased with the result.

“It was a great game of cricket from our perspective. We ticked all the boxes we wanted to. To be honest I didn’t think it is going to be that kind of a Test match which would get over in three days. It was a good batting pitch, there was some turn and some assistance for the seamers as well,” said Rohit after the game.

“Lot of credit to the guys, they bowled very well in tandem, kept the pressure and never made it easier for the Sri Lanka batsmen,” he added. Meanwhile, the second and final Test, which will be a Day-Night affair, will get underway on March 12 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
