Preview:
India A and South Africa A square off for the fifth and final time in their ongoing Unofficial ODI series at the Greenfield International Stadium on Friday. India has dominated every game in the series with their spinners and middle-order starring for them against the Proteas. Although Heinrich Klaasen and Bjorn Fortuin have done their bit, South Africa A hasn’t been able to capitalize on the key moments leading to their poor showing.
With this being the last game, fringe players on either roster will look to make most of this opportunity with the likes of Anrich Nortje and Lutho Sipamla vying for the third pacer spot in the South African senior side. As for the Indians, clean-sweep beckons although it wouldn’t be smooth sailing considering the strength and talent in the Proteas line-up.
Weather Condition/Report:
Although the weather forecast is clear for the most part of the day, there is a threat of rain in the latter half of the match. All the matches in the series so far have been troubled by rain and should be on different on Friday as well. Another delayed start is expected during the final ODI of this series
Pitch Condition/Report:
As the game progresses and the pitch wears down, spinners will find it helpful although the batsmen should be able to score freely on this surface. With all the previous games being shortened here, teams tend to score at a rate in excess of six. Pacers should also get some help with the new ball during the powerplay overs.

Top Picks:
Shubman Gill has underwhelmed in this series with no scores over fifty to his name. Nevertheless, he is their best batsman, who even won the man of the series award against West Indies A. He is due for a big score at the top of the order for India A in this series.
Shikhar Dhawan is one of the best openers in the world and showed everyone exactly why he is so on Thursday. The south-paw got some runs under his belt against a strong Proteas attack with a couple of stylish cover drives. On a good batting surface, he is crucial to India’s fortunes.
Matthew Breetzke has looked solid in all the three games he played this series. Although he looked a bit troubled by leg-spin, he should add some runs to his tally of 67 in this series.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Captain – Shubman Gill, Shikhar Dhawan, Matthew Breetzke
Vice-Captain – Rahul Chahar and Shreyas Iyer
Although Shubman Gill has been one of the most consistent performers for the India A side, Shikhar Dhawan’s international experience gives him the nod for this game.

Expert Advice:
With the threat of rain lingering around, top-order batsmen and pinch hitters are crucial to the cause for this game which implies the selection of the likes of Shubman Gill and Sinethemba Qeshile
Spinners have enjoyed success at this venue, making them viable options. Heinrich Klaasen could be given a break with the wicket-keeper slated to play in the Test series as well against India A which paves the way for Khaya Zondo or George Linde.
Probable Winners:
India A has already won the series but the South Africans haven’t done too badly in this tour. They should get over the Indians on Friday and add respectability to the scoreline.
