India and Afghanistan were involved in a thriller at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday. The Gulbadin Naib and Co fell 11 runs short of the target after restricting one of the best batting line-ups for just 224 runs. No wonder this would’ve been one of the biggest upsets in the World Cup history. But India just kept their nerves to get over the line. Even Naib lamented the missed opportunity after the match and also revealed that he supports the Men in Blue always.

The camaraderie between the India and Afghanistan cricket boards is well known to everyone. The BCCI has played a crucial role in their rise. Afghanistan plays its home series at a couple of venues in India while there are also reports that Lucknow will be their third home venue. The facilities provided in these grounds are superb which has helped the players improve and play some great cricket.

Naturally, the players also share a similar bonding and it is no surprise that some of the Afghanistan players are huge fans of the Indian cricketers. Gulbadin Naib is no different as the Afghanistan skipper spilt some beans regarding the same saying that Virat Kohli is his favourite cricketer.

Whenever I watch cricket, I support India

Speaking to the reporters in the post-match conference, the 28-year-old was very much delighted with the way his team performed on the day. He also went on to say that they missed a great opportunity to defeat one of the best teams in the world. The happiness was on Naib’s face while taking the questions at the presser.

“We missed the opportunity to beat India. India is one of the best sides. It is always my favourite team. I support Indian team when I watch cricket. My favourite player is also Virat Kohli and I played against them. India is one of the best teams now,” Naib said.

Afghanistan have now lost six matches and will be itching to at least register a win in the last three matches. They must’ve realised their potential now and will be high on confidence when they face Bangladesh on Monday.
