The fourth Test match between England and India is currently underway and has all the ingredients to see an exciting finish. The home team was bowled out for 246 runs courtesy of resounding shows by each of the Indian bowlers. Thereafter, Cheteshwar Pujara telecasted an unflustered temperament and scored 132 runs from 257 deliveries with the help of 16 boundaries.

He came to bat at number three and played till the very end. The batter saw wickets fall frequently, but he went on his own merry way. At one point in time, India were reeling at 195/8 in 61 overs. Moeen Ali picked up a five-wicket haul in his comeback Test and set the cat amongst the pigeons with his guile and trajectory. Pujara only had Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah as his partners.

Cheteshwar Pujara will be confident

He farmed the strike expertly to guide India to a crucial lead of 27 runs after the conclusion of both team’s first innings. India are currently chasing 245 runs to win the encounter at The Ageas Bowl and draw level in the series. In the meantime, Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian batsman, reckons that the Indian batters don’t need to try anything fancy in order to track down the target.

“Cheteshwar Pujara will be confident after a century in the first innings and Virat Kohli has been batting superbly. There has been not much turn in the pitch today so it’s eased up and it has got slower. India just have to bat sensibly and not get ahead of themselves,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying in British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Test Match Special.

In England’s second innings, the Indian bowlers put the skids under the batsmen. But, the likes of Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Sam Curran combined together and played useful knocks, which eventually helped the hosts set the daunting target.
