The SCA stadium at Rajkot is all set to witness a draw on its debut unless a miracle on the final day of the first Test match between India and England. The hosts were bowled out for 488, not before reducing the first innings deficit to just 49 runs. Later England batted out 37 overs in the final session and scored 117 runs without losing a wicket. Unless India bowl the visitors out in the first session or England declare after adding some quick runs on final day morning, the Test is set to finish without the requirement of the play going into the final hour. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the day’s play.

0 – Number of England players have hit a six in Test cricket before turning 21 before Haseeb Hameed. He has hit his first six in Tests at an age of 19 years 300 days.

1 – Virat Kohli is now the first player to be dismissed hit-wicket against the same opposition in two different formats. He got out hit-wicket in an ODI vs England in 2011.

2 – Virat Kohli became the 2nd Indian captain to be dismissed hit-wicket in Test cricket. Lala Amarnath was the other Indian captain who got out hit-wicket in 1949. Overall, Kohli is the 18th Test captain to be dismissed hit-wicket with the last one been Darren Sammy in 2011 vs Bangladesh.

3 – Virat Kohli is only the 3rd Indian to be dismissed hit-wicket on multiple occasions in International Cricket. Mohinder Amarnath got out hit-wicket on 3 occasions while Nayan Mongia got out twice.

4 – Number of times Ravi Ashwin scored a fifty plus in the following innings after conceding 150+ runs in a Test innings. His scores after conceding 150+ runs in a Test innings read: 103, 62, 15*, 91* and 70.

4 – Number of century opening stands Alastair Cook has been part of in Test cricket in India, the most by any visiting player in India. Matthew Hayden was part of 3-century opening stands in India.

19y 83d – Age at which Denis Compton scored a fifty in Test cricket, the youngest England batsman to score a fifty in Tests. Haseeb Hameed became the 3rd youngest England player to score a fifty. He is also only the 3rd England player to score fifty before turning 20.

19y 300d – Haseeb Hameed became the youngest England opener to score a fifty on Test debut. Alastair Cook scored fifty on his debut at age of 21 years 66 days in 2006 also vs India at Nagpur. Overall, Hammed is the 8th youngest opener to score a fifty on debut.

23.13 – Ajinkya Rahane’s batting average in first matches of a Test series, the 2nd lowest for any India batting in Top 6. (Min: 15 innings) Anshuman Gaekwad averages 21.37 in first matches of a Test series.

85 – Overs bowled by England spinners in India’s first innings of this test, the most by them since Mumbai Test in 2012 also against India. England spinners bowled 85.1 overs in first innings of that game.

109 – Batting average of Ravindra Jadeja in first-class Cricket before this game at Rajkot’s SCA Stadium. He scored two centuries in 9 innings including a triple and double tons. Jadeja scored just 12 runs in the first innings of this game.

1993 – Last time before this Test, 3 England spinners bowled 20+ overs each in a Test innings was in 1993 also vs India at Mumbai.

2002 – Last time before Kohli, an Indian got out hit wicket in Tests was VVS Laxman in 2002 vs West Indies. Kohli’s dismissal was the 22nd instance of an Indian getting out hit-wicket in Test cricket.

2008 – The first two innings in this Test lasted for 321.3 overs. Last time before this, a Test in India had the first two innings of a Test longer than this was during India-Australia Test at Delhi in 2008.

2012 – Last time before this Test, a visiting team took first innings lead in India was also England in 2012 at Nagpur where India declared their innings despite 4 runs behind England’s total.
