India didn’t take long to wrap up visitor’s last 8 wickets on the final day. England could only add 61 runs before getting bowled out a short while after lunch. The highlight of the day was Jadeja and Ashwin rushing through overs in the first-hour bowling a wholesome of 20.4 overs. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the day’s play.

1 – Visakhapatnam became the first venue to host India’s wins in all 3 formats at the same venue in a calendar year. India won a T20I vs Sri Lanka and ODI vs New Zealand before this game in 2016.

1.52 – Ravindra Jadeja’s economy rate in 4th innings in Test cricket, the 2nd best of all time. (Min: 200 overs bowled) Best rate is TL Goddard’s 1.41.

2 – Number of Indians before Jayant Yadav to score 60+ runs and take 4 wickets on Test debut. The two players were Amar Singh in 1932 vs England and Abid Ali 1967 vs Australia.

3 – Number of England players including James Anderson who got out three times in three balls in Tests. William Attewell in 1892 and Paul Downton in 1985 are the other two.

3 – Number of the man of the match awards including in this Test Virat Kohli has got in Test cricket. His last was in December 2013 at Johannesburg against South Africa.

3 – Number of the man of the match awards Virat Kohli has received in International Cricket at Visakhapatnam, the joint 2nd most for him at a venue. He got 7 match awards at Mirpur, Dhaka and 3 at Colombo (RPS).

4 – James Anderson became the 4th England batsman to bag a King pair in Tests. He is also the 4th player to bag a King pair in Tests against India.

8/119 – Ravichandran Ashwin’s match figures of 8/119 are his best in Tests against England. His previous best were 5/214 at Kolkata in 2012.

9 – Virat Kohli became the 9th Indian captain to receive a man of the match award in Tests. The last one was MS Dhoni at Chennai in 2013 vs Australia.

15 – Number of consecutive matches India remained unbeaten in Tests under Virat Kohli, 3rd best streak for an Indian captain.

21 – Number of ducks James Anderson has in Tests, the most by any England player in this format.

55 – Number of wickets Ravichandran Ashwin has taken in Test cricket in 2016, the most by any bowled in this year. Rangana Herath has 54 wickets in Tests in 2016.

246 – India’s victory margin of 246 runs in this Test is their 2nd largest winning margin in terms of runs against England. Highest is 279-run win at Leeds in 1986.

1906 – Last time before James Anderson, an England batsman bagged a pair was Ernie Hayes in 1906 vs South Africa.

4309 – Runs scored by Joe Root in his Test career, the 4th most by an England player at end of 50 Test matches.

57.89 – Virat Kohli’s win percentage, the highest among the Indian skippers who have captained the team in minimum of 15 Tests. (V Kohli – 57.89, MS Dhoni – 45.00, S Ganguly – 42.85)
