India needed 50 overs on the final day to wrap up their historic 500th Test match with a huge 197-run victory at Kanpur. Ronchi and Santner delayed India’s win but a 10-wicket haul from Ravi Ashwin ensured the hosts became the 3rd team to register a win in their 500th Test. With this win, India extended their undefeated streak in Tests to 11 games and 12 in a row at home. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the day’s play.

1.95 – Test matches Ravi Ashwin takes on an average to pick up a 5-wicket haul. This is the best rate for any Indian bowler with at least 5 five-wicket hauls. Previous best is 3.0 by leg-spinner Subhash Gupte.

3 – Ravi Ashwin is now the 3rd fastest to take five 10-wicket match hauls in Test cricket. Sydney Barnes took 24 Tests while Clarrie Grimmett needed 35 Tests.

5 – Number of 10-wicket match hauls Ravi Ashwin has taken in Test cricket. Among Indians, only Anil Kumble has taken more (8).

10 – Number of fifty plus scores recorded in this game without a century. It is the 2nd most fifty-plus scored without a century in a Test match in India and joint 3rd most in any country. 11 fifties were scored in India-Australia game at Mumbai in 1964 while 13 were scored in South Africa-England game at Durban in 1928.

10 – Number of LBW dismissals effected by Indians in this Test, most by them in a Test match. The previous highest was 9 dismissals in Kolkata Test against Australia in 2001.

11 – This is the 11th consecutive Test match in which India are undefeated under Virat Kohli. This is the joint 4th best undefeated streak for an Indian captain in Tests.

12 – This is the 12th consecutive Test at home in which India is undefeated. This is the joint 3rd best streak for India at home.

19 – Number of 5-wicket hauls Ravi Ashwin has taken in Test cricket. It took him only 37 Tests to so and only 2 players have taken more 5-wicket hauls than Ashwin by this stage of their career.
