India will take on the spirited New Zealand side in the 2nd ODI at Pune where they need to win to have a chance of winning the series. Since losing in Australia in 2016, India won all the six ODI series they played including three in a row at home. The only team to have beaten India in their own backyard in the recent times was South Africa back in 2015.

Also, New Zealand had given India a run for their money in the previous ODI series the two sides competed in. The men in blue had won it 3-2. Indian skipper Virat Kohli will hope to continue the winning streak going. Kohli, who scored a century in his 200th ODI at Mumbai, will be crucial yet again alongside the two wrist spinners, who couldn’t wrap up the opposition like against Sri Lanka and Australia.

Here we look at the key stats and numbers ahead of the game.

2 – Number of ODI matches played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Australia won the first in 2013 by 72 runs after posting 304/8 while India chased down 351 against England earlier this year.

45 – Number of wickets for Mitchell Santner in ODI cricket. He needs five wickets to complete 50 wickets in ODI format. Santner currently has 96 wickets in International cricket and needs four more wickets to complete 100 International wickets.

India won similarly in a 5-match ODI series at home against Windies in 2014 which turned out to be a series of three games only as 3rd ODI got cancelled and Windies terminated the series before the last ODI.

5949 – Number of runs scored by Dinesh Karthik in his List A career so far. He needs 51 more runs to complete 6000 runs in List A cricket.
