India registered their 7th consecutive bilateral ODI series win and also their 7th consecutive ODI series win against New Zealand at home with a close win in the series-decider at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s centuries guided India to a big total of 337/6 in the 50 overs. New Zealand gave a tough fight to the hosts in the chase before India’s death bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar sealed a 6-run win for India.

Here we look at all the stats and records created during the game:

2 – Virat Kohli became the 2nd Indian player to score 2000 International runs in consecutive calendar years. Sachin Tendulkar scored 2000 International runs in three consecutive calendar years between 1996 and 1998.

4 – Number of double century partnerships between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in ODI cricket; the most for any pair. Three pairs have three double century stands between them. This was the 11th double century stand Virat Kohli was in involved in. No other player has been a part of more than seven double hundred stands.

6 – Virat Kohli became the first captain to score in six centuries in ODI cricket in a calendar year. Three captains managed to score five ODI hundreds in a year previously.

7 – This was the first time India won seven consecutive bilateral series in ODI cricket. They have six consecutive ODI series on two different occasions. Virat Kohli also became the first Indian captain to win seven consecutive bilateral series.

28 – Jasprit Bumrah became the 2nd quickest to complete 50 ODI wickets among Indian players. He took 28 ODIs for the milestone while Ajit Agarkar needed only 23 matches.

81 – Trent Boult’s 81 runs in this game are the most he has ever conceded in an ODI. Boult conceded 80 runs against Australia in the last year’s Canberra ODI. He became the 2nd New Zealand bowler after Tim Southee to concede 80 and more runs on two different occasions.

92 – Runs Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded in this game. He conceded 103 runs in an ODI against South Africa in 2015 in Mumbai. He became the 1st Indian and overall the 6th player to concede 90 and more runs on two different occasions in an ODI.

93 – Innings Virat Kohli needed to complete 5000 runs in International cricket as a captain. He is quickest to reach the milestone by breaking Michael Clarke’s record (109 innings).

165 – Rohit Sharma became the 2nd quickest to complete 150 sixes in ODI cricket. He needed 165 innings for hitting his 150th ODI six while Shahid Afridi needed only 160 innings.

194 – Innings Virat Kohli needed for completing 9000 ODI runs. He is the quickest to reach the milestone by bettering AB de Villiers, who took 205 innings.

263 – Virat Kohli’s 263 runs in this series are the most for any Indian in a bilateral ODI series of 3 or fewer matches. The previous most was 244 runs by Kris Srikkanth against Sri Lanka in 1982.

1460 – Kohli’s 1460 runs in ODI cricket in 2017 are the most by any player as a captain in a calendar year. He went past Ricky Ponting’s tally of 1424 ODI runs as captain in 2007.
