When everything else gets stuck in the notorious Bengaluru traffic, how can cricket be far away? The ongoing second unofficial Test match between India A and Australia A played at the KSCA Cricket Ground, Alur witnessed a bizarre instance where the morning session of the first day’s play on Saturday was extended because of traffic jam in India’s IT capital.

Reports of cricket matches getting postponed or abandoned by rain or inclement weather conditions are not new but here is an instance where the morning session of a four-day game was extended as the players’ food could not reach the venue on time because of traffic congestion on road.

The news about a cricket match getting affected by the city’s traffic jam came to the fore after a journalist from The Hindu, N Sudarshan tweeted, “Morning session in the India-A Australia-A match extended by half an hour in Alur because…. food didn’t arrive on time because of traffic jam :)”

Australia A ahead

Australia A were 290 for 6 at stumps on Day 1 of the second unofficial Test after the visitors won the toss and elected to bat first. Their captain Mitchell Marsh was unbeaten on 86 while Travis Head scored 68. For India A, spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Shahbaz Nadeem took 2 wickets each.

The tourists are leading the two-match series 1-0 after they won the first game in Bengaluru by 98 runs with Jon Holland taking 6 for 81 in the second innings to bundle out Shreyas Iyer’s side for 163 while chasing 262 to win.
The current game is taking place at Alur on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

The Indian A and ‘B’ sides have had a good run against visiting teams over the last few months. After India A defeated South Africa A 1-0 in a two-unofficial Test series, India ‘B’ went on to win a quadrangular series that involved besides India A, South Africa A and Australia A.
