Team India won their 11th consecutive match across formats as they defeated Sri Lanka on the third day of the second Day/Night Test match in Bangalore. For the visitors, captain Dimuth Karunaratne smashed a century and Kusal Mendis half-century but it wasn’t enough as Rohit Sharma and company and company beat the Lankan Lions by a mammoth 238 runs margin to clean sweep the Test series 2-0 after already clinching the T20I series 3-0.

Earlier in the day, apart from Karunaratne and Mendis, no Sri Lankan batter really looked like scoring runs as experienced middle-order batter Angelo Mathews scored just one run and fell to Ravindra Jadeja for the eighth time in his Test career. Dhananjaya de Silva and wicketkeeper batter Niroshan Dickwella scored four and 12 runs respectively. Skipper Karunaratne batted with resistance and refused to give up as he scored 107 runs. But soon after Jasprit Bumrah got him out bowled, victory looked inevitable for India on the third day of the match itself.

Ravi Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah then dismissed the tail-enders quickly to wrap up the Test match in the second session of the third day. Both the bowlers snared three and four wickets respectively to complete the demolition of the tourists. For his twin half-centuries in the match, Shreyas Iyer was adjudged with the Player of the Match award and Rishabh Pant was declared the Player of the series for his 185 runs in two Test matches. India won their fourth straight series across formats clean sweeping the opponents West Indies and Sri Lanka. India also won their 15th consecutive Test series at home.
