Team India was taken aback by the spirited Windies side in the third ODI in Pune. Despite skipper Virat Kohli’s ton, the hosts succumbed to a defeat conceding a 1-1 scoreline in the five-match series. As the two sides stepped in Mumbai for the fourth ODI, the onus was on the Indian side to show a fightback as the previous defeat had questioned their dominion at home.

The Kohli-led side left no stone unturned to absolutely humiliate the Windies side in the match. A thoroughly clinical performance from the team crushed the visitors in a one-sided affair. After opting to bat first, Team India scored a mammoth 377/5 in their stipulated 50 overs. Rohit Sharma top scored for the side with 162 to his name, and Ambati Rayudu contributed with a brilliant century as well. The Rohit-Rayudu marathon stand pushed the visitors out of the game in the first innings.

In the run chase, Windies could never really get into the game. The Indian bowlers kept picking up wickets at regular intervals. Skipper Jason Holder provided some resistance with his fifty but that could not help his side deny the inevitable defeat. The innings folded on 153 and India beat Windies by 224 runs.

Here are the India Player Ratings for the match:

Rohit Sharma – 9.5/10

Rohit was the wrecker-in-chief for the Indian team in the match. The dazzling opener struck his second ton of the series to play yet another marathon knock. He has made it a habit to convert his hundreds into big ones.

On the day, he slammed a brilliant 162 off just 137 deliveries with 20 fours and 4 sixes. Was there a double for the taking? Well, Rohit did not bother about it as he went bonkers not thinking about his personal milestone.

Shikhar Dhawan – 5/10

Dhawan has a tendency of getting a decent start and then give his wicket away trying something that he would potentially regret later. The story in Mumbai was no different. The southpaw got a good 38 off 40 deliveries hitting a couple of sixes and four boundaries. He was dismissed by Keemo Paul in the 12th over of the innings.

Virat Kohli – 2/10

It is not an everyday story to see Virat Kohli get out cheaply. The star of the series thus far had a luckless time in the fourth ODI. Kohli, who has hit three tons thus far, perished after scoring just 16. His dismissal resulted in a pin drop silence at the CCI.

Ambati Rayudu – 9/10

Rayudu has been in decent form of late. The veteran cricketer seems to be fitting perfectly in the role of number 4 in the Indian side in the lead up to the World Cup. After a couple of decent starts in the series, Rayudu finally went big in this game. He scored a blistering 100 off just 81 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. He added 211 runs with Rohit for the third wicket.

MS Dhoni – 4/10

MS Dhoni has been under constant pressure to perform in the recent times. And against all expectations, his string of low scores do not seem to end. Dhoni looked good for his 15-ball 23 in the match but failed to provide the final flourish that the team expected from his end. With the gloves, he fared decently inflicting a stumping in the game.

Kedar Jadhav – 5/10

Kedar Jadhav did not have a major role to play in the match. He arrived at the crease at the final stages of the Indian innings. He remained unbeaten on 16 off 7 balls with three boundaries. Surprisingly, he did not get a chance to bowl in the game.

Ravindra Jadeja – 5/10

Jadeja had yet another good day at the office. He bowled his complete quota of ten overs and was very economical. He conceded just 39 runs and returned with a wicket to his name. He accounted for the dismissal of Keemo Paul.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar – 4/10

Bhuvneshwar bowled just five overs today and did not have the best of times. Although he had a maiden to his name and also the early wicket of Chandrapaul Hemraj, he ended up conceding 30 runs in his five overs.

Kuldeep Yadav – 8/10

Kuldeep Yadav got rid of the wagging tail in the end. The tail, led firmly by Jason Holder, had India frustrated for quite some time. Kuldeep cleaned up the last man to finish the game. In the 8.2 overs that he bowled, he returned with figures of 3/42 to his name. He would certainly want to be a little more economical in the games to follow.

Jasprit Bumrah – 5/10

Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless, albeit economical, in the game. When the Windies lower order frustrated the Indian side, skipper Kohli went to Bumrah to see an end of the tail. However, he failed to answer well. He finished with 1/25 in the 8 overs that he bowled on the day.

Khaleel Ahmed – 9/10

Khaleel was the biggest positives for the Indian side in the match. He bowled an excellent spell in the middle overs to push Windies out of the chase. He concluded with figures of 3/13 in his five overs. The left-arm pacer accounted for the dismissals of Marlon Samuels, Shimron Hetmyer, and Rovman Powell.
