India Women squad for the upcoming tri-series announced

The series commences on March 22 with the hosts taking on the Australian eves.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the India Women T20I squad for their upcoming international assignment. The Indian eves are set to host Australia Women and England Women for a T20I tri-series. The series commences on March 22 with the hosts taking on the Australian eves. All the matches of the tri-series will be played at the CCI, Mumbai.

The three participating teams will face off against one another twice before the top two sides will face off in the finals on March 31. The India Women squad for the series looks a very balanced side and they would be hoping to clinch the title with the home advantage working in their favor. Harmanpreet Kaur has been named as the captain of the team.

Young opening batter Smriti Mandhana has been named as the deputy of Harmanpreet Kaur for the series. Veteran pace bowler Jhulan Goswami makes a comeback to the team after a brief injury layoff. The other senior members, Mithali Raj and Veda Krisnamurthy, make up the core of the side. Young batter Jemimah Rodrigues has got another chance after decent outing in South Africa.

Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Mithali Raj, Veda Krishnamurthy, Jemimah Rodrigues, Anuja Patil, Deepti Sharma, Taniya Bhatia (wicket-keeper), Poonam Yadav, Ekta Bisht, Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey, Pooja Vastrakar, Rumeli Dhar, Mona Meshram.

Meanwhile, the All-India Women’s Selection Committee has also selected the India A squad for the warm-up fixtures ahead of the tri-series. India A will play two warm-up matche against England Women on March 18 and March 19 in Mumbai. S Meghna has been named as the captain of the India A team. Vanitha VR is the other senior player in the side.
