Indian Blind Cricket team overjoyed after meeting Narendra Modi for the 2nd time

The Indian Blind Cricket team met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his office today morning after they were crowned the World Champions very recently in the Blind T20 World Cup after beating arch-rivals Pakistan in the Final of the tournament. Narendra Modi was present there with Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot and Krishan Pal Gurjarr, Minister of State.
The full team was overjoyed after meeting the prime minister for the 2nd time in their life. Earlier they had met Modi when they won the Blind World Cup in 2014. Modi conveyed his hearty congratulations to the team who performed brilliantly in the tournament and returned triumphantly. He invited everyone personally for the meet and remembered most of them from their last meeting. He also took individual photographs with each cricketer and handed them a cheque of Rs. 2 lakhs to each of the 17 cricketers, coach and the assistant coach.
Hailing the Blind Team India for their achievement, Narendra Modi said, “I follow the team very closely and remember most of the cricketers from our last meeting. These cricketers are not just sportsmen but are also an inspiration and role models to many.”
GK Mahantesh, Chairman of World Blind Cricket Council and President of Cricket Association for the Blind in India said they were ecstatic after meeting the Prime Minister. “We were ecstatic after meeting the Prime Minister. Every time we meet him, we come out with renewed energy to do something extra for the country. We now would strive harder to bring more laurels to our country and to the sport of Blind Cricket. This meeting will definitely be a memorable moment for all of us and would be a cherished memory for a long time. Meeting the Prime Minister was the perfect and apt end to the successful cricketing season for Indian Blind Cricket Team,” he said.

This was the 2nd time the Indian Blind Cricket lifted the T20 World Cup.
