The much-awaited Lord’s Test greeted both the teams with rains. Hence, the whole of day one was washed out and even the toss wasn’t possible. Day 2 didn’t offer much respite to the fans either. There was grass on the pitch, of course, moisture and with overcast conditions, the pacers made the ball talk. India were 10/2 before rains intervened for the first time. Both the openers Murali Vijay and KL Rahul were dismissed cheaply by Jimmy Anderson.

The match began a few hours later only for the players to be forced back to the pavilion as there was a heavy showers a few minutes after the play resumed. India were effectively 15/3 as Cheteshwar Pujara was run out owing to a confusion with the captain Virat Kohli in middle. At such times, one can understand the frustration of an Indian fan with constant interruptions and the batsmen looking clueless.

One Indian fan couldn’t take it and ended up swearing at the Lord’s Cricket Ground on Twitter. However, in return, the Home Of Cricket’s Twitter handle responded saying that it wasn’t their fault. Twitterati saw a funny side to the same as they burst into laughter. It was a timely response and made the conversation hilarious on what was a dull day for cricket followers on Twitter.

Here is the tweet and the reaction:

The match eventually began late. With overcast cloudy conditions, the ball swung and the likes of James Anderson and Chris Woakes made full use of the same. Indian batsmen showed little application and discipline as Anderson ended up picking a five wicket haul and took his overall tally at Lord’s to 99. India were all out for 107 as Ravichandran Ashwin with 29 was the highest scorer.

Day 3 finally saw a bright and sunny morning in London. England came out to bat with the conditions quite friendly for batting as compared to that of the previous day. However, after a poor start, Indian bowlers brought the visitors back into the game with some quick wickets. The match is still evenly poised even though England are batting five down in the first innings and have a 70-run lead.
