Indian film industry superstar Rajinikanth names his favorite cricketer

Dhoni is a fan-favourite in Chennai, especially after he led the side to three IPL victories. While the city heralds Dhoni as one of their gems, there is yet another person who rules over the hearts of million Chennai inhabitants. It’s none other than one of the most celebrated actors in the country, Rajnikanth.

During a recent event in the city, Rajnikanth was asked to chose his favourite cricketer. The superstar, without a moment’s pause, exclaimed Dhoni as the crowd cheered in joy. Both Dhoni and Rajnikanth are celebrated figures in Chennai, each heralded for their own heroics.

Rajnikanth, who started his journey as a bus conductor, went on achieve incredible heights, much like Dhoni, who was a Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) at Kharagpur station before he went on to lead the Indian team to two World Cup victories.

Dhoni has justified his selection time and again

Although Dhoni relinquished captaincy reigns early last year, he is still regarded as one of the most pivotal players on the pitch. He’s been a constant source of support for present skipper Virat Kohli. He is still an integral cog of India’s backbone and can often be spotted chatting up strategies with Kohli.

However, with Dhoni sliding towards the penultimate stage of his career, it’s only a matter of time before he starts to decline. And it has led to several pundits raising questions over his retirement. But till now, the wicketkeeper-batsman has been tight with his performances, justifying his selection.
