Indian origin Derbyshire player Shiv Thakor investigated for 'indecent exposure’ claims

He has been released under investigation while inquiries continue

Derbyshire club player Shiv Thakor has been suspended by his club after he was investigated by the police for claims regarding ‘indecent exposure’. This is not the first time Shiv has been interrogated by the police for the same issue. It’s the second time he has been questioned by the police on two separate occasions.

Meanwhile, Thakor has been suspended by Derbyshire County Cricket Club from full pay following the allegations against him. Due to legal reasons, the County did not want to mention much. He appeared for the first time in First Class debut back in 2011 for Derbyshire, when he was 17, playing against Loughborough MCCU.

Back in November 2010, he earned a three-year contract with Leicestershire player, after becoming the youngest player to score a century for the side. He has also the received the esteemed accolade of Young Sports Personality of the Year at the 10th annual British Asian Sports Awards ceremony. Following that, he signed for Derbyshire CCC couple of years back in 2015.

Statements from Club and Police

“The Club has been advised that the police are investigating an allegation concerning one of our players, Shiv Thakor when the player was not on duty with the Club. After discussions with his representatives, the player has been suspended on full pay pending the outcome of the investigation. For legal reasons, we are unable to comment further at this stage,” commented the club in its statement according to thesun.co.uk.

The Derbyshire police also gave their input of via their statement in front of the media. The force spokeswoman commented that Thakor himself visited the St. Mary’s Wharf Police Station to comment on the matter.”A 23-year-old man voluntarily attended St Mary’s Wharf police station and was interviewed in connection with the alleged offences. He has been released under investigation while our inquiries continue” commented the Police spokeswoman.
