The Virat Kohli-led Indian Test team have been breaking each and every records which are comings in their way in the recent times. Now, they are just a single win away from equaling Australia’s all-time record of nine consecutive series wins between the period 2005-2008. India can achieve the landmark after securing a victory against the Sri Lankan team in the third Test match, when the two sides will meet each other at New Delhi on Saturday.

The Indian team have been sensational and their performance in the last two years speaks for themselves. They won 10 out of the 13 matches played in the home season between 2016-17. Each and every member of the team played to their potential and contributed in the series victories. This Indian team has also won the Test series in the Caribbean and whitewashed the Lankans at home earlier this year.

On the cusp of equaling the world record

The Indian Test side is surely on the cusp of equaling another world record approaching their way, when they meet the Lankans to secure their ninth consecutive series win. The hosts took a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series after a massive win in the second Test match at Nagpur, while the first match ended in a thrilling draw. However, it is also believed by many, that the real Test for the No 1 Test side would be when they travel for overseas tours.

The big talks regarding the pitches and preparation time

Indian captain Virat Kohli recently spoke about the lack of preparation time and the packed schedule for their South Africa tour next month. He said that his team wants to play on seaming tracks in order to prepare for Test series in South Africa. It is also to be noted the series against the Proteas, scheduled next year will be the first overseas tour for Kohli’s Men after a long and successful home season.

“That’s why we asked for pitches with help for the fast bowlers. There’s not enough time in between to prepare so we have to use the time we have now for a big tour coming up,” said the Indian captain.
