After a terrific and amazing show in the limited-overs leg of the South African tour, the visiting Indian would surely be thinking about the bitters scars received during 2-1 Test series loss. The Indian captain Virat Kohli mentioned after the completion of the long African tour that the team management and the players would be going through their mistakes committed, following which India lost the Test series and would be finding the possible solution for success in the upcoming overseas tours.
India would be touring England in July later this year, where they would be playing the limited overs series first before the five-match Test series.
Reports: Test specialists to land early in England
The one major mistake or the shortcoming pointed out by many of the former Indian cricketers and followers of the Indian cricket was that the Indian Test team did not land early in South Africa to acclimatize themselves well in the foreign conditions. The Indian team management also chose to skip a practice Test match in the Rainbow nation and decided to train on their own for the important Test series.
In an attempt to solve the deficiency, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief Vinod Rai recently revealed that they have been in discussions with the Test management about sending the Test specialist players of the Indian team early to England to make themselves settle down in the English conditions.
The CoA chief also mentioned that the Indian opener Murali Vijay along with the Test team vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane would be arriving in England in June with the India A team that would be playing a number of first-class games against the English county sides as well as the England Lions A team. The India A team would be touring England with their coach Rahul Dravid. The first Test match between India and England will be starting on August 1, at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
“We are looking at the bigger picture and we have had discussions with our core think tank. The general consensus has been preparation for England Test series,” said Rai as quoted by the Mid-day.
