The Indian squad for the ODI series against New Zealand has been announced by the BCCI and once again the out of favor duo of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina has missed out from finding a slot in the line up. Batsman KL Rahul has been dropped from the squad, whereas wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has been included. India will lock horns with the Kiwis in a three-match ODI series starting on October 22.

Middle-order batsman Suresh Raina last played for India in the T20I series against England during the start of the year while veteran Yuvraj last featured for the men in blue against West Indies in the Caribbean island. It was earlier reported that the duo has been struggling with fitness issues and therefore haven’t featured in the national set up.

Yuvraj fails the test again

According to reports, Yuvraj failed the Yo-Yo endurance test and his bid to make a return into the Indian side has now been struck with a major roadblock. Yuvraj appeared for the fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore on Tuesday. He will now feature for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy.

Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravichandran Ashwin passed the test with flying colors. “Been a good trip to Bangalore, yo yo test done and dusted. Now #backtothegrind #RanjiTrophy2017 #teamtamilnadu,” Ashwin said in a Twitter post. The BCCI is also expected to come up with a timeline for the Yo-Yo test soon. The 35-year old vicei-captain of the Punjab Ranji team will look to pile up runs in the domestic circuit and once again go through the test in the next window. Raina too, will look to pass the test and make a comeback into the national side. He is currently leading Uttar Pradesh side in the Ranji Trophy.

Here is how Twitter reacted to some major missings:
