Kings XI Punjab all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 10 due to a shoulder injury. He is now expected to head back to Australia and will undergo his tests there. As per the recent reports in the cricket.com.au, the Australian all-rounder landed severely on his shoulder during the practice session. It was the Kings XI Punjab warm up session prior to the game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore when Marcus Stoinis made a diving effort to stop the ball.
In his attempt, he ended up injuring his left shoulder. During the live telecast of the game between KXIP and RCB, the footages were played that showed Stoinis in some pain clutching his shoulder. Stoinis has been an integral part of the KXIP camp since the last edition of the tournament. He was one of the top performers for the franchise in the season that saw them finish at the bottom of the points table.
This year, he had largely failed to come up with repeat performances from the previous edition on the personal front. Neither did he get amongst the runs, nor could he take wickets at will. His bowling, in particular, looked mediocre and the batsmen found it easy to nurdle him around for runs.
In the 5 matches that he played this season, he mustered a total of just 17 runs and had only two wickets to show against his name in the wickets column. His last outing this season came against the Gujarat Lions at Rajkot on April 23. Since then, he was benched by the team management.
The likes of Eoin Morgan and Martin Guptill arrived at the scene for the Kings XI Punjab and that saw Stoinis being out of action and warming the bench since then. He will be hoping for a speedy recovery since he is a part of the Australian squad that will be touring UK next month for the Champions Trophy.
